8 Places to Explore in Singapore

Singapore with its rich history and wealth of character is an amazing place to visit whether it be a day trip, a weekend trip or longer. Read below for ideas of where to go whilst in Singapore (in no particular order).

Ps: post created in 2018

1. Botanic Gardens

Plenty to look at here. The gardens are an important research and education space housed in a large 74-hectare area.

2. Sentosa

Within 15 minutes away from the city, Sentosa can bring out the youth in you. Partake in some of the more exciting attractions, or bask under the sun on the golden sandy beaches or you might like to play a round of golf. Sentosa is suitable for the young and the not-so-young.

3. Chinatown

A town that is steep in history where an abundant mix of old and new can be found. Have some dim sum at quality family-owned dim sum restaurants. Venture into textile stores or even medicine halls.

4. Little India

Come take a look at the Indian temples which can be found along its streets and take in some fortune-telling for the curious.

5. Kampong Glam

Its most famous attraction is the Sultan Mosque or Masjid Sultan, which is open to all visitors and is near to the Malay Heritage Centre. Wandering around the alleys is a favorite pastime of mine and it doesn’t disappoint. Visitors will be amazed.

6. Gardens by the Bay

Visitors can easily spend a few hours here without realising it. Wander inside the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest cooled conservatories, the vertical gardens of Supertrees and the outdoor themed garden.

7. Singapore Flyer

Reminiscent of the London Eye, the Singapore Flyer is one of the largest observation wheel in Asia at 165m from the ground. Visitors will be able to take in a breathtaking, panoramic view of the Marina Bay, the island city and more.

8. Singapore River Cruise

The cruise starts from where Sir Stamford Raffles first set foot on SIngapore soil, along the northern flank of the Singapore River. The tour will take you along the Boat Quay, Clarke Quay and Robertson Quay with a stop at the ArtScience Museum.

Bonus:

9. Marina Bay Sands

Take a much needed retail therapy at Marina Bay Sands. If you want, get on a “Sampan” ride and relax as the paddlers take you along the canal of The Shoppes, reminiscent of the Gondola rides of Venice. You can also take in a panoramic view of Singapore from one of the largest cantilevers in the world at the Skypark Observation Deck. How about some entertainment at MasterCard Theatres? These range from concerts to award-winning musicals.

For a much needed RnR, head over to the Banyan Tree Spa & Fitness Club. My last experience there was definitely much needed. I must admit that I had such a restful sleep afterwards. The spa is located at Hotel Tower 1, Level 55.
